Beginning August 1st, 2017, Zendesk no longer accepted Marketplace submissions for new apps created using the v1 version of the Zendesk Apps framework, or allowed uploads of new private apps using the v1 framework.
Starting March 1st, 2018, no updates to public Marketplace v1 apps or installed private v1 apps were accepted. The last day to update v1 apps was February 28th. This was part of a larger effort to migrate existing apps to the new and improved v2 framework.
Note that any installed v1 app continues to work after March 1st. Any already public v1 Marketplace app also continues to be available and installable. The March 1st change just prevents developers from making updates to already uploaded public or private v1 apps. Emergency security updates to v1 apps may be approved on a case-by-case basis.
If you're developing a new application you must use Apps framework v2. If you currently have a public app using the v1 framework and would like to start migrating it to v2, several resources exist to help:
- Apps framework v2 documentation
- Migrating to v2 - This doc provides information on the app scaffold - a tool created to help migrate apps to v2 more easily
- v2 app tutorial - Build a v2 app from scratch
Additionally, more content will become available pointing out the benefits of the v2 framework and best practices as we get closer to deprecating the use of v1 in public apps. Please subscribe to the Zendesk Developers blog for additional content as it arrives.
