    Zac, thank you for this feedback! While we don't have current plans to change the way that custom objects are identified, we are looking into friendlier ways to support use cases where the Zendesk custom objects database is connected to an outside database, by read-write, read-read, or write-write necessities. We'll definitely keep in mind ease of identification as we move toward a solution.

    Thanks Shannon! Your comment on my other feedback seems to point to a solution that would solve for this use case anyway, and I was happy to read it! For other customers, see here: https://develop.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360004397248-Feature-Request-Query-Custom-Objects-by-Object-Record-Attributes

    Hey Zac,

    This might be helpful if you write external IDs into your custom objects: https://develop.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002073807/comments/360001774848

    GET /api/custom_resources/resources?type={resource_type}&external_id={external_id}

    I haven't tried a PATCH command using the the endpoint, but if that was a possibility it would be amazing.
